Privacy policy

BarbellBrief (https://barbellbrief.com) is a static website run by a single independent publisher. This page describes exactly what happens to data when you visit it. It is deliberately short, because the site does very little.

The short version

• We do not ask you for any personal information, and there is no account to create.
• We do not run advertising trackers or a behavioural advertising network.
• We do not sell or share personal information, in the sense used by US state privacy laws.
• Some outbound links are affiliate links. Clicking one hands you over to the retailer, who then applies their own privacy policy and cookies.

What we collect directly

Nothing that identifies you. There is no contact form, no newsletter sign-up and no comments section on this site. If you email us, we hold that email and your address for as long as needed to answer you and to keep a record of any correction it led to.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical request data — IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp — to serve pages and to protect the site from abuse. We do not use these logs to build a profile of you, and we do not combine them with any other source.

Cookies

BarbellBrief sets no cookies of its own and stores nothing in your browser. Affiliate networks and retailers do set cookies once you follow one of our links, on their domain — typically to attribute a purchase to us for a limited window. Those cookies are governed by the destination site's policy, not this one.

Third parties involved in a page view

• Cloudflare — hosting and delivery of every page, as described above.
• Google Fonts — the typefaces are loaded from Google's font servers, which means Google receives your IP address and user agent when a page loads.
• Affiliate networks and retailers — only once you click an outbound commercial link. This includes the Amazon Associates programme; as an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

Analytics

This site currently runs no analytics script. If that changes we will use a privacy-respecting, cookieless product and update this page and its date before it goes live — not after.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of personal data we hold about you, and to object to its processing. In practice the only personal data we are likely to hold is an email exchange you started. Write to [email protected] and we will act on it.

Children

This site is aimed at adults buying fitness equipment. We do not knowingly collect anything from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

Material changes are reflected in the "last updated" date at the top of this page. The history of every change is public in the site's source repository.
